Born in 1963 at Casablanca
Presently lives and works at Casablanca
After finishing secondary school at Casablanca, Amina Agueznay studied architecture at the Catholic University of America, Washington DC where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture in December 1989. She managed several architectural projects in the United States.
From this experience, she headed towards, and was inspired by, the idea of a universe somewhere between design and art. She finally turned towards jewellery design and creation, but in a very particular form. Her realisations are closely linked to architecture. Her first stage is to build in miniature what she had designed and realised in normal size.
Since 1999 when she exhibited her work at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, Amina Agueznay has regularly shown in contemporary art exhibitions, for example in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakesh, New York, Paris, Algiers, Lille, Rotterdam, Stuttgart and Berlin. She has also participated in various international trade shows in Zurich, Basel, Vienna and Paris. She also regularly runs workshops at Kristiansand in Norway, Istanbul, at the Domaine de Boisbuchet in Lessac, France and in Morocco.
In 2010 she was a laureate of the prestigious Mediterranean Fashion Prize.
Her universe is different as she not only uses unusual materials but has created modules which allow her to combine architecture and jewellery.
