The reason for my participation for the OpenMyMed Prize is because I feel that it is in my responsibility as a Tunisian designer to showcase my work to an international crowd and to say that we have a lot of talents that need to be heard. I want to represent the Tunisian craftsmanship through my collection and motivate other Tunisian designers to show their works. I believe in support and the value of working together, my goal is for Tunisia and the whole Maghreb to have a platform for their emerging and established designers where they can support each other, work with European countries together, recognize their craft and their tradition in art and design. Growing up between cultural differences, I know how hard it is to fight prejudice. This prize brings people from different cultures together and celebrates the passion that we all share together for fashion. This means a lot to me, not because of the winning, more about getting a voice that can be heard.
VALUES LINKED TO THE MMM (CRAFT TECH CARE & GIVE BACK)
Craft is a form of Art, from an artist who has experienced. The manufacturing of my collections is based in Tunisia. Not only I want to support the economy of Tunisia, I also believe in our hand-craft and the Tunisian artisanal. For me it was the most important to support Tunisian handcraft, in the medina of Tunis I work closely with artists who have inherited their crafts from their fathers and grandfathers. Craft is a part of the heritage of my country. It shows who we are as Tunisians. Influenced by so many different cultures. This is what my brand represents, every garment of my collection has a story to tell, crafted by artists with unique hands.
