Marseilles is popular and appreciated, which has come to the attention of the French Capital. Always acknowledged as the birthplace of the jeanners, the Phocaean city has now charmed the Denim Première Vision Paris trade show.
On 24 November at 2:00 PM the Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode (MMMM) is organising a meeting at the Palais de la Bourse between industrialists from the Region and the team of the Paris trade show. The following elected members of the CCIMP will also be present: Elisabeth Coquet-Reinier, responsible for attractiveness and tourism, Laurence Paganini, Member of the Digitalisation Mission (CEO of the fashion brand Kaporal).
The Denim Première Vision team includes Marie Claire Annequin, Manager of the Trade Show, Chantal Malingrey, Marketing and Development Director, and Cécile Soulier, Manager for Visitor Marketing.
Together they will discuss their vision of the advantages and attractiveness of our region and its fashion industry, which supports 19,000 jobs and generates €1 billion in sales each year.
For this occasion, the MMMM interviewed Chantal MALINGREY:
How do you perceive Marseilles, where the history of the jean and denim is part of its heritage and culture, and is now an important part of its economy?
Marseilles is a major creative centre for the Mediterranean basin. It is also the birthplace of numerous fashion brands, particularly relating to denim. Marseilles is a multicultural and inspiring metropolis, whose dynamism is recognised throughout the world.
The MMMM includes in its strategy for the fashion industry various university degrees, support for creators and designers in 19 Mediterranean countries, and the OpenMyMed Festival which is overwhelmingly supported by millennials and the media. What areas do we share with your group's strategy?
The promotion of creative fashion, creativity in a broader sense, innovation, transmission, education, and the desire to be at the forefront of the avant-garde, audacious and bold!
And all of the above with an international mission and purpose.
The next edition of the denim trade show is scheduled for 14/15 November in Paris. Does Marseilles have the potential to host an edition of the denim trade show?
The actors in the fashion world, and particularly relative to denim, are always on the lookout for new experiences.
Who knows what the future may bring!
