The Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode (MMMM) explains to the international news agency the AFP (Agence France-Presse) their ambitions to make Marseilles the California of French fashion. Initially made by Andrea Palasciano, this interview was then used by over 40 national media, including in Paris Le Point, Libération, L’Express, Le Nouvel Obs,… and regionally by Le Parisien, Ouest France, Corse Matin, and also in the Dom-Tom French overseas Departements and Territories. A media "Tour de France" bringing together 9 million readers around the MMMM and its unique positioning as a fashion "slasher" turned towards the Now Gen Mode. The term "slasher" was created in France referring to the slash sign / separating a person or entity's different professional activities.
The MMMM detects and supports the New Mediterranean Fashion Scene with its OpenMyMed Prize competition open to 19 Mediterranean countries, which in 7 years has brought together more than 91 designers.
The MMMM co-created with the largest university in France, Aix-Marseilles University, the Professional Licence degree course and the Master 1&2 of Fashion and Textile Trades, completed by the recent creation of the fist University Chair in France in Fashion, Fashion Crafts & High-Tech, for the start of the next academic year.
The MMMM organises in Marseilles the OpenMyMed Festival, the must rendezvous of the Now Gen Med from May to September. Its guest of honour this year is Simon Porte Jacquemus, with a double exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts, Fashion and Ceramics and the MuCEM.
