Aix-Marseille University: a mission to spread the spirit of entrepreneurship

Aix-Marseille University (AMU), in partnership with Sciences Po Aix, the École Centrale de Marseille, the École nationale supérieure d'Arts et Métiers, the University of Avignon, the department of Vaucluse, and the Local Education Authority of the Académie d'Aix Marseille make up the PEPITE PACA OUEST hub.

The PEPITE PACA OUEST hub (a student centre for innovation, exchange, and entrepreneurship) assists students and recent graduates wishing to receive training in entrepreneurship and innovation. Its purpose is to meet the demand to spread the spirit of entrepreneurship and to strengthen entrepreneurial cultural among the region’s 100,000 students using a true network dynamic; and to share knowledge and involvement among higher education, the state, local regional authorities, and the socio-economic world.

The PEPITE PACA OUEST hub grants national student-entrepreneur status and offers a complete entrepreneurial process to increase awareness among young student entrepreneurs.

The hub falls in line with the expressed desire of the president of Aix-Marseille Université, Yvon Berland,to offer high-performance training solutions. In 2006, in collaboration with Maryline Bellieud Vigouroux, Aix-Marseille University (AMU) and the Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode [Mediterranean Institute for Fashion-related Professions] (MMMM) created the Bachelor’s and Master’s 1&2 degrees in Fashion- and Textile-related Professions.

80 international students selected based on application files benefit each year from this exclusive training, which is unique in Europe.

The MMMM is a partner in this educational programme, which is participated in by the biggest names in French fashion and industry, and the course is part of an innovative approach, as proven by the Marseille brand Kaporal with the first locally-connected designer jeans, produced by dancer Lil Buck.
