«Even to a greater extent because of the economic crisis, our fashion metiers need organised, quality training and education, and infrastructures which support the entrepreneurs in the sector. For the French Fashion Institute (Institut français de la mode-IFM), it was logical and natural to support the MMMM. The more our industry works together and is unified, the stronger it will be. There is no sense of competition between us, in fact just the opposite, a real spirit of complementarity. Aix-Marseille University (AMU), with a Degree course and now a Masters Degree course, offers a good alternative for accommodating students, not only from France but from other countries. And the demand for places continues to increase. In order to do better than our competitors, we need to have structures capable of accommodating young talent who want to study in France, coming from Asia, the Mediterranean basin, Europe and South America. The way forward is obvious when you witness the meetings between young designers from the Mediterranean basin and professionals from the fashion world. These exchanges are essential in supporting young talent in fashion design, helping them succeed not only as designers but also as entrepreneurs, and making their projects sustainable. »
